REVIEW: Eat Me!

Eat Me! is a low budget film directed by Katie Carman following four band members through a zombie outbreak.  First and foremost this movie is a comedy – the band members provide most of the comic relief, while the zombies provide the back up.

The four main characters are a fairly likeable group of stoner-garage-band members – complete with half-baked ideas and all!  I found it entertaining that the collective stoner group would react to situations accordingly, i.e. they couldn’t open a jammed door to get out of the basement so they gave up and went to sleep.  I did have my grievances though with these characters, particularly the acting, it ranged from fairly entertaining to painful.  Kara (Elizabeth Lee) and Sam (Chesley Calloway) definitely kept my attention when they were on screen, but the other actors made watching the movie feel like a chore.

There were a few issues I had with the movie which took me out the film and made it hard to stay involved, I recall a certain scene where the cameraman was clearly visible through a mirror.  Another problem I had with the movie was the make-up jobs on the zombies seemed to vary quite a bit, some looked great and others were lacking.

The continuity of the film is fairly simple; the group makes decisions based on (stoner) logic and reason for the most part.  I felt the film never really climaxed and that we were just dragged though step by step until they came to a poor conceived resolution.

In the end the film felt lacking in content but did leave me with a funny zombie related question: does it count if you are bitten by a zombie with dentures?
