Short Film: There Will Be Blood
Gee why does that name sound awfully familiar? Short of the same name aside this is a cute short. Why do you ask? Because it has kids fighting zombies. One of them using a chainsaw! Yes a 7 year old killing a zombie with a chainsaw. With the actor’s age range and it being independent expect little budget in this 5 minute short but expect to be entertained regardless!
This is the largest undertaking our family has ever attempted. We started talking about it a few weeks before Halloween this year. Alex brought up the zombie movie we made a year ago and how he thought it wasn’t as good or scary as he once thought it was. He asked if we could make another one but make it better and scarier. As a family we agreed that we would make another one and pull out all of the stops to make it as good and scary as possible. This is the product of our labor. The music as well as the title were lifted from the film “There Will Be Blood” which surprisingly is a drama and not scary in the least. Most of the plot was the original story for our first zombie(filmed in less than half an hour) movie with a few modifications to include Preston(zombie #2) who wasn’t with us the day we made the first one. We were unable to finish the first movie because of lack of cooperation from our then three-year old Jack. The movie stars Alex(age 8 through most of the production but turned 9 near the end), Preston(age 8), Sara(age 7) and Jack(age 4).
