Glen Mazzara Joins The Walking Dead’s Writing Staff

While I wouldn’t be too secure in having a position of writing staff or The Walking Dead after what happened to Season 1’s writers. Still though who wouldn’t love the chance of helping write the television version of the best graphic novel to be released to date! Not only that but the TV show itself did quite well for it’s 6 episode pilot.

While I doubt I’ll be reading off every name that ends up joining the staff this is one I just couldn’t pass up and if any of the other writers are of this caliber I’ll openly admit they will get a mention as well! That and he isn’t just another writer for the show, he signed up as a writing executive producer and Frank Darabon’s right hand man! Yes he’ll be taking over the number 2 spot previously helmed by Charles “Chic” Eglee. While originally there was an idea that there would be no set writing staff for Season 2 it looks as if the team will be hiring 5 writers to help work the show through it’s paces.

So who is Glen you might be asking yourself?

He was the executive producer of Hawthorne, Crash, and The Shield. He was also the co-executive producer on Life. The Shield and Life are two of my favorite shows on TV and the intricacies involved in Life will translate well to The Walking Dead (even if the humor won’t) and the grittiness of the Shield is a perfect match! (I have never seen Hawthorne and although Crash is one of my favorite all time movies I haven’t seen the series.)
