Update: Dead Island To Infect The Big Screen
So apparently Deadline and Variety were wrong when announcing yesterday. The following quote is supposed from a PR release (though it didn’t hit our inbox so just as the previous post we’re relaying what we’re reading) was posted over at Zombie Slam:
We are looking for quality above all else for a movie based on Dead Island. We want to do it the right way as film realizations of games (or vice versa) usually fail to deliver what the fans were looking for. We will not go down this route with Dead Island. Deep Silver profoundly believes in the quality and value of its Dead Island IP,’ says Klemens Kundratitz, CEO of Deep Silver’s parent company Koch Media. ‘We would therefore be honored to work with someone who already has a proven track record with blockbuster movies.’
While I can’t track down the original source at this time. If it is true it clearly shows that they do want the film to come to the big screen (who doesn’t want additional income) so either way it looks as if Dead Island has a movie adaptation in mind it just may prove to be in an even earlier stage then film rights being acquired.
