Edgar Wright Was Asked To Direct An Episode Of The Walking Dead
Edgar Write had some interesting words to say at SXSW. For those of you not familiar with Edgar Wright he recently put out the amazingly well done yet unfortunately low box office sales film known as Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. For those of you not interested in that he also put together a small, barely heard of zombie film that you may have come across before – Shaun of the Dead. I’d list a source on this but I unfortunately missed posting it yesterday when every other horror site in the world happened to.
â€Frank [Darabont] asked me to do a ‘Walking Dead,’ actually…
I feel that there’s some subject matter that, like, even though it’d be great. And I love that show. I actually watched four of the six episodes uninterrupted in one run—it was like zombie Pringles. I think that with something like that, with some TV shows, you wanna be in on the ground floor,â€
“I really enjoyed the first season, and I wouldn’t wanna be the guy that comes in and fucks it up,†Wright added.
So while it looks like he was made the offer it sadly won’t happen. Now there wasn’t an outright no there but it doesn’t look promising. I REALLY hope Edgar gets to work on a zombie film down the line though as Shaun of the Dead clearly stands out as one of THE great zombie comedies to have been created.
