Information on Pittsburgh’s Latest Zombie Themed Haunted House

Recently Scott Simmons, creative director of The ScareHouse, shot us over an e-mail with some details on their latest zombie themed haunted house that is being setup. The ScareHouse is a haunted house that is located in Pittsburgh and is rated one of America¹s Scariest Halloween Attractions by Travel Channel, and one of America¹s Best Haunted Houses by AOL, Forbes, Fangoria, and Haunted Attraction Magazine. So, clearly they know what they are doing with such high praise for the new production they are launching from September 23rd through October 30th.

So what did Scott have to say on it?

I¹m a proud native and life-long resident of Pittsburgh (aka ³The Zombie Capital of the World²) – and this new haunted attraction (one of 3 haunts within The ScareHouse) is our attempt to surround our customers with recreations and references to all kinds of local landmarks, as well as a huge cast of flesh-eating zombies. We¹re all fans of George Romero and the original Dead trilogy of films shot in and around Pittsburgh ‹ but nothing inside the attraction is based on any existing movies or characters. Pittsburgh Zombies is an entirely new attraction based on original designs and creations from our team of scenic designers and effects artists. I can tell you that we have very ambitious plans not only for the sets, but also for the level of detail necessary to make this apocalypse seem as real as possible. That means original music, video content, sound design, prosthetics, and all manner of production details.

So basically it’s a lot of talent put together who are fans of the zombie outbreak with experience doing haunted houses MAKING A ZOMBIE THEMED ONE! Wow, this is one of the few times I wish I wasn’t in Chicago as I’m sure I’d be at this on opening day.

And now for the official press release:
