Dead Island Movie Is A Go

Dead Island’s trailer took the Internet by storm when it was released. It looked like the first game to truly want to capture the zombie feel and this is compared to games such as Left 4 Dead, COD’s Zombie Missions, etc. So of course a studio, with zombies making a killing right now, decided to pick up the rights to it!

Lucky for all of us it was Lionsgate that picked it up. They’ve had ‘some’ experience with horror films so at least we’ll get a good budget going and most likely someone with at least a bit of experience behind the camera.

The final game, while extremely enjoyable, has been a very buggy experience to many people. Fortunatly the entire concept of them making a film? It’s based on the trailer that was absolutely awesome.

Like the trailer that will serve as its primary creative inspiration, the film ‘Dead Island’ will be an innovation of the zombie genre because of its focus on human emotion, family ties and non-linear storytelling. ‘Like the hundreds of journalists and millions of fans who were so passionate and vocal about the Dead Island trailer, we too were awestruck… This is exactly the type of property we’re looking to adapt at Lionsgate – it’s sophisticated, edgy, and a true elevation of a genre that we know and love. It also has built in brand recognition around the world, and franchise potential.’
