The zombies are in full swing on the Zombie Hood set and they are really hyping the quality of their undead. We only get a small shot of them in this month’s preview pictured but Steve doesn’t tend to lead us wrong so I’m pysched for what we’ll see when this gets a little further along.
Did I mention that we’re getting REAL special effects and not CGI as so many have tried to unsuccessfully switch to? Win.
Also it looks like we’re going to see quite a few of the cast members dying and re-animating so that’ll be fun. It’s too easy to just kill a cast member off and not have them come back as a flesh eater so I hope we’re going to see a large amount of main characters bite the big one and then each other!
Its rather fitting that the spookiest month of the year has seen us work with our most terrifying and gruesome zombies yet. Our make up team have exceeded all expectations once again with some sickening prosthetic work. The die hard horror fans among you will be astounded at the make up on both our starring zombies. There’s lots of ripped flesh and one poor girl doesn’t have much of her face left. It’s so refreshing to see these effects in real life rather than relying on CGI like so many films do these days, practical effects if done well always look better and ours won’t let you down.
Did we mention one of our un-dead is only a little girl; it’s unsettling to say the least! Our horrifying zombies have not only been scaring certain crew members but they have also been getting a taste for our little band of survivors and sadly one has already met their fate. If only they could all survive, but it wouldn’t be a great zombie film without some grizzly death scenes. Hopefully though if we’ve done our jobs right you’ll actually be sad about certain characters breathing their last breath, well before they’re reanimated. At least no one’s really dead in a zombie film!
Aside from the scares and the deaths, we’ve shot a lot of dialogue between our leads making it clear which characters you will be rooting for and who you might want to get a good biting. As always though, each week our cast seem to get better taking difficult scenes in their stride. November will be our last month of continuous shooting as December will be spent scheduling and planning the remaining shoots and giving everyone a well deserved break. But never fear as one of our November shoots will have our largest zombie horde yet so expect an excited update about that this time next month.
