The December update has given us both a roundup of some of what’s been done this year and what’s new as of this month. The film really sounds like it’s coming together and the rumor is I’m going to get a sneak preview of some of it soon so if that’s the case I’ll possibly be able to vaguely tell you about some of it soon! I just have to run it past those who be in charge before I say anything (spoiler free of course.)
So that’s a wrap for 2011! What a year! We’ve filmed in gale force winds and scorching heat waves, in vast woodland and tiny toilet cubicles. There have been fast zombies, slow zombies and even a few with exploding heads. But it’s not over yet! Filming commences again in January however we have ended the year on a high judging by the amazing shoots that took place over November and December.
We’ve been back in the woods to film a prominent death scene which was quite harrowing to watch on set let alone in the edit. It will be a very uncomfortable scene to watch that we can guarantee it’s easily been the most distressing scene we’ve shot so far. You might have thought Zombie Hood would be all gore and laughs but we’ll be pulling on those heart strings too. But don’t worry as traumatic as the scene may be the evil zombie in question looks amazing. Without going into too much detail, there is exposed bone and it looks pretty nasty. Our make up team just keep out doing themselves on every shoot as the prosthetics are getting better and better. Who knows how they’ll excel in the new year?
November saw us film with one of our largest zombie hordes to date in what may be the most haunting scene we’ve filmed yet. The weather was actually on our side for once as we filmed on an extremely foggy day so our zombie horde literally come tearing out of the mist towards our little band of survivors. The footage looks amazingly eerie and we must say a massive thank you to all our zombie extras who took part on the day. It was beyond freezing and yet you all gave amazing performances despite being covered in wet sticky blood, whilst all us crew members were shivering in our many layers. You did great and we all hope you enjoyed yourself. With filming commencing again next month, there is still time to appear as a zombie simply email [email protected] to be added to our mailing list.
Our last shoot of the year was an interesting one to say the least. We sadly said goodbye to more characters and hello to a reanimated one. As our group dwindles the scenes are certainly getting more intense, luckily we have an amazing cast to deliver the goods. We just don’t like saying goodbye to them when they meet their demise. The location was the real star of the scene though; when you see the final film you won’t believe we didn’t dress the set ourselves. It was an actual treasure trove of rare and wonderful objects which really heightened our production values for the scene. It looks amazing and to layer the drama and scares over such a wonderful backdrop can only produce an excellent scene.
December has also seen the launch of In Isolation’s The Wrong Girl music video which is available to view on the media page and our facebook page. As many of you might know we shot this video simultaneously with a Zombie Hood scene hence it features many members of our cast (and crew!). This is an important video to us as the band actually plays the song in our opening scene, which also happens to be our first zombie attack. It was a fun video to make and we hope you enjoy watching it as much as we did making it. It gives you a first sneaky peek at several of our main and supporting characters so give it a watch and then download the single when it becomes available on January 1. We’ll post links as soon as we have them.
So 2011 is over for us, we reaching the final hurdles now with our release in 2012. We can’t wait and we must say a massive thank you to everyone who has helped us in some way from locations to props, even if you just let us use your car park you’ve helped us on our way and we can’t say thank you enough.
