In case you didn’t know here at Buy Zombie we love zombies. We love zombies, we love The Walking Dead, and we love web based stuff. So it’s pretty damn cool that the Writer’s Guild of America is recognizing The Walking Dead’s webisodes with a nod for Outstanding Achievement in Writing. So badass.

On Wednesday the Writer’s Guild of America announced their nominees for the first ever New Media Writing Awards, and The Walking Dead webisodes were honored with a nomination for Outstanding Achievement in Writing Derivative New Media.

The webisodes, written by John Esposito and directed by The Walking Dead’s Co-Executive Producer and Special FX Makeup Designer Greg Nicotero, will face stiff competition to take home the New Media prize: Web series Jack Donaghy: Executive Superhero (tied to NBC’s 30 Rock), Mortal Kombat: The Web Series and a Sons of Anarchy web series (FX) are also nominated.

Winners will be announced at the 2011 Writers Guild Awards on Sun., Feb. 5 at simultaneous ceremonies in New York and Los Angeles.
