It looks like The Walking Dead’s smash success on television has caused them to hit the toy marketing world in a big way. At least that’s what it looks like from these amazing shots that FearNet got.
Between slashing budgets and promoting toys AMC sure knows how to find ways to make the top show on television even more profitable. While McFarlane had the toys on lockdown last year it’s spread a little bit further this year around.
First up is a special edition Blu-Ray release with a zombie statue created by McFarlane that is a zombie with a screwdriver in it’s eye. Sweet! Not really toy related but it is still sweet regardless. Season 2 figures are of course immediatly on the way with Rick, Shane, bicycle girl zombie, the well zombie, and the zombie that ended up in the RV. Shane is sporting his new crazy shaved head and Rick is wearing his partially civilian clothes.
While no comic toys were shown off at Toy Fair (they are apparently on hold for now unfortunatly) they are doing something special for Kirkman at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con so that could be something amazing to check out later this year. Comic toys aren’t fully taken away though as there are Minimate characters being released this year based on the comics.
There’s also apparently a plug and play video game being released that’s not for a system and really just shouldn’t have been licensed out as far as I’m concerned.
