The friendly folks over at DefTone Pictures Studios sent over a few stills from their latest zombie film in the works. While we are unfortunately not seeing much in the way of zombies in the stills (I have a feeling we won’t be seeing too many in the film with the plot) it does SOUND like it could be a creative stroke of genius! You really need to check out this plot idea as it’s reads as if it’ll be something very interesting to watch.

Do you ever wonder how the first zombie is created? Caged promises to tell that story. Caged stars Robert Bozek (Slime City Massacre, the Final Night and Day) and Patrick Mallett (Black Guy on a Rampage, the Final Night and Day). Mr. March (Bozek) wakes up, locked in a cage, suffering from temporary amnesia. As he tries to figure out his surroundings, the events of the past hours begin to haunt him in a series of flashbacks. Mr. March tries to pull the clues together to get out of the cage alive: a biohazard canster, blood sprayed against the walls and a dead body nearby on the floor. A pistol lies just out of reach near an open briefcase. But why? Mr. March must overcome the terror that has been unleashed around him and find away out of the cage.

Director and co-writer of the project Adam R Steigert had this to say about the production “Caged is a very interesting project, a zombie film with a twist. Unlike a lot of the zombie films that focus on carnage, our story focuses on the real terror that one man goes through while placed in a situation. But don’t get me wrong…there is still some good carnage!” Caged special effects makeup artist Phill Beith says “working on Caged was a fun experience! I get the call from Adam (Steigert) on a Monday and literally three days later we’re on set filming this unique zombie flick. A very good experience while gearing up to film Ombis.”

DefTone Pictures Studios release date for Caged is October 01st, 2012. It will also be available for digital download October 28th, 2012 after its initial theatrical screening. A release date for DVD will also be in October of 2012. Special features will include an exclusive scene to DefTone Pictures Studios next film Ombis which stars Richard Satterwhite, Jason John Beebe, Sara Manzella, and special guest star Melyssa Jade.
