This is pretty full of spoilers for season 2 if you haven’t seen the finale yet though you are safe from season 3 spoilers. Well we’re going into Season 3 but this one is more of a recap of the Season 2’s finale special effects. Honestly watching this it’s SHOCKING how much is CGI. They do such a good job I really can’t pick out everything they point out as being CGI on screen. Some things, yes of course, but so much of the environment is so spectacularly done it always surprises me how much of it is done by computer.
Massive walker herds. Exploding CDC buildings. Even a looming prison. Each adds to the spectacle of The Walking Dead. What you may not realize, however, is that sometimes these visuals are generated by the computer-generated wizards at Stargate Studios. In this new behind-the-scenes video, Visual FX Supervisor Victor Scalise walks you through 3D effects added to the apocalyptic world of The Walking Dead. “As we hope with most of our work,” he says, “you don’t know they’re computer-generated.”
