Well Johnathan Maberry has made an announcement on Facebook that gives me news that warms the heart. His Joe Ledger series started in Patient Zero which felt like a season of 24 that was set in a zombie outbreak. There are spies, espionage, great action sequences, and a zombie outbreak that is being done for political and religious reasons. It’s a whole novel of awesome and now, even though novels have been set in it’s universe since Patient Zero, we’re getting a DIRECT sequel to the book that if you haven’t yet read you should go out today and buy!
Joe Ledger have been in 3 non-zombie novels since Patient Zero but now he’s back on the case of dealing with terrorists who can release a zombie plague into the world.

Here’s the way the sequel will play out… PATIENT ZERO was Joe Ledger’s first adventure, and it dealt with the Seif al Din zombie plague. In the short story “Zero Tolerance”, Joe goes hunting for the designer of that plague, hunting though the hills of Afghanistan. (That story is available as an e-story, an audio short, and in print in LIVING DEAD 2, edited by John Joseph Adams).
Then we roll forward four years to CODE Z, which will be the sixty Joe Ledger novel. In that, a rogue scientist steals some of the most dangerous weapons that had been confiscated from terrorists. The Seif al Din pathogen is part of that cache. Joe and his team are called to respond to zombie outbreaks across America. It’s going to be a very intense, nasty zombie story.
