What can we say about Anchor Bay? They love horror and don’t shovel out shit. Sure not every film they release is an instant classic but the majority of them are worth at least a watch if not buying the film so it’s awesome to find out that Deadline has announced that Anchor Bay has picked up the rights to a new zombie film known as The Demented. The is a film we mentioned on before when we brought up that they were casting for it a few months back.

The film itself looks like it’s going to have a 2012 release slate and has a cast of members who you may recognize from other films: Sarah Butler (I Spit On Your Grave), Michael Welch (Twilight Saga), Kayla Ewell (Vampire Diaries), Brittney Alger (21 Jump Street) and Richard Kohnke (Mighty Fine).

So what’s the film about?

Six college friends meet up for a carefree weekend that turns deadly. A terrorist attack in a nearby town infects much of the townspeople with a deadly virus that induces rabies-like symptoms, only far more severe. Several of those infected (the title characters) attack the estate where the friends have been vacationing. Can they survive? Where will they hide? Is anyone left? Will we ever get our fill of these flesh eating zombie fiends?
