Dayplanner of the Dead has an awesome plot that just sounds like it could be entertaining. They are currently in the early stages of raising funds to make the movie actually happen though I hope they are able to reach their goal since I think I want to see this plot make it to the big screen!
Please, God, no! Not another zombie movie!!
Yeah, we know. Everyone with a working camcorder, functioning eyeballs and a bottle of blood (in various combinations) is making a zombie movie. So why should you have any interest in “Dayplanner Of The Dead
First, it’s like no other zombie film you’ve ever seen. Night of the Living Dead alumnus Gary Streiner certainly thinks so. He calls it “an utterly original concept, completely unique and absolutely hilarious.†In fact, the story, script and characters are so strong that the film has attracted the attention of some true horror icons.
Kyra Schon, who played little zombie girl Karen Cooper in the George Romero classic that started it all, will be appearing in our film as a zombie for the first time in over 40 years. Fellow NOTLD alumnus Gary Streiner, founder of the Living Dead Festival and leader of the successful campaign to save and restore the Evans City Cemetery Chapel, where NOTLD was shot, is also appearing. And Tom Sullivan, creator of the legendary Book of the Dead for Sam Raimi’s ‘Evil Dead’ trilogy is on board as well.
Plus, we have an equally impressive crew to bring it all to life. Grindley Studios has assembled an amazing team of award-winning screenwriters, actors, cinematographers and Oscar nominees for art direction and costume design (check out the bios of our crew). Together, we span over 40 years in the business. Our people have worked on major motion pictures, including ‘Jaws’, ‘The Thing’, ‘Christine’, ‘Halloween’, ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’, ‘Swamp Thing’, ‘Poltergeist’, ‘The Hills Have Eyes’ and many more.
So, with a pedigree like that, and connections like those, why do we need your money?
Yeah, why do you need our money?
Good question. We’ve chosen to fund and shoot this film independently. While we do have major studio talent, we DON’T have major studio interference, waste or overhead. ‘Dayplanner’ is a labor of love, made by fans (US!) for fans (YOU!).
We’ve been very fortunate so far. Based on the strength of our script and our reputation alone, several private investors have donated $15,000 in seed money and gotten us off to a running start. But we need more.
Where is the money going, you ask? Well, we can promise you this – every dollar you donate will go up there on the big screen! We’re getting special effects and make up services from some industry legends. We’re shooting entirely on location. We’re featuring massive zombie hordes, all of whom need costuming and makeup. We’re paying all of these people, cast and crew alike (another thing that sets our studio apart from the majority of today’s independent filmmakers). And once shooting wraps, we have to take care of postproduction, including visual effects and a lot of technical things that are, frankly, boring, but expensive.
That’s why we’re asking you to donate. Without your help, we can’t complete the film.
What happens if you surpass your fundraising goal?
First, we faint. But if we’re lucky enough to exceed our fundraising goal, those surplus dollars will be placed in a special account to support a feature-length version of our story – darker, richer and every bit as funny, with more adventure, more scares, more laughs and plenty of gore!
So even if we reach our fundraising goal, please keep on giving, or encouraging fellow fans to donate
OK, what can we do to help?
Well, donations are always appreciated. But just as importantly, we need you to help spread the word about the project. You can do this by sharing the fundraising campaign (the Indiegogo share tools make this a breeze).
