zombielandSad news for fans of Zombieland everywhere. The movie was a juggernaut at the box office and wouldn’t die when it came to DVD and Blu-ray sales. You would think with such a huge outcropping of support of the film and with the rise of zombie fanboyism from The Walking Dead that a sequel to Zombieland was in the cards. There were multiple rumors of it or a television show based off of it (as it was originally modeled) was going to be a reality.

Today though Collider caught up with director Ruben Fleischer who delivered bad news to all of us who were hoping for a tomorrow filled with more rules on how to deal with the undead. With no script and most of the cast already having long moved onto other projects this really is just a daydream at this point.

“I hate to do it, but I can say that there’s no immediate plans to make the movie. There’s no script, really, so the likelihood of it happening is slim. But I would not wanna put a nail in that coffin.”

So if the movie did happen, and that’s a really big if, which direction would it take? Fleischer explains, “I guess the only thing I could really say is that the threat to our heroes wasn’t only zombies, like they encounter other people that they’re all jockeying for positions.”
