When Telltale games announced that they were releasing The Walking Dead as an episodic game with one piece at a time there was initially a resistance. It’s an unproven business model for many games and even with The Walking Dead’s success people were unsure how the game will translate. Well with Telltale’s recent announcement that the series has now brought in $40 million and the rave reviews to the quality of the game I think we can all agree it’s been a huge success.

Since April 2012 that means there have been over 8.5 million episodes sold to gamers everywhere. According to Telltale CEO Dan Connors or making more games:

“That would be an area we’d be interested in pushing to grow more there,” said Connors though for those worried about more The Walking Dead? “This all remains to be seen,” says Connors, “but we are definitely figuring out how to carry the saves over.”

So we’re absolutely going to be seeing another “season” of The Walking Dead’s games by Telltale and it looks as if save games might somehow be able to be used in it. I’m still not sold on the idea of episodic games but no one can deny this series has been an absolute blast to play through.
