twd-showrunner

The folks over at AMC seem to like to mix things up with The Walking Dead. By mixing things up I mean by changing the showrunner for the show every other damn season. Honestly so far it has been working for them. Frank Darabont started it all and brought his amazing talents to the small screen by creating a world based off of Kirkman’s work with his own original touch. It blew us all away.

For reasons we will never truly know (I’m guessing money) they let him go and replaced him with his second in command Glen Mazzara. While that sucked because Frank did some amazing work I’m a fan of what Glen has done. He’s had experience with the show already as well as some other gritty television and it shined through in his work. Awesome. We finally have a showrunner that not only looks like he’s ALSO doing what needs to be done but will last for awhile right?

Apparently not since now he is getting the boot from AMC and is being replaced by Scott Gimple. Scott wrote 5 of the episodes of the show so far so he’s got some The Walking Dead experience under his belt but what else has he done? Well he’s done Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance.

Shit.

Well before you get too worried he also worked on Flash Forward which, while cancelled, was a great show. Also he helped with Life which was an amazing show that.. oh wait that got cancelled to. I’m not kidding I really do like those 2 shows a lot but. That’s a hell of a cancel streak for shows I like.
