What’s The Becoming: Revelations About?

Brandt Evans is floundering. Leadership of their dysfunctional group wasn’t something he asked for or wanted. Their problems are numerous: Remy Angellette is grief-stricken and suicidal, Gray Carter is distant and reclusive, and Cade Alton is near death. And things only get worse.

While Brandt and Gray are on the hunt for supplies, a still-recovering Cade is kidnapped by a militant group of survivors. On Brandt’s return, he’s told of a conspiracy involving test subjects, pathogens, and CDC doctors.

Brandt’s race to save Cade takes him back to the dangerous streets of Atlanta, where not all is as it seems. And with a horde of infected closing in and the rescue mission in jeopardy he comes tantalizingly close to a cure that might save what’s left of humanity from the ravages of the Michaluk Virus.

Our The Becoming: Revelations Review

In this third installment of the series we’re introduced to some new characters that are not exactly the best people to know. With these characters we also get more inside information on the Michaluk Virus and how Brandt played a part in it. Actually his part was more of an unknowing test subject and I won’t give you more details about that, you’ll have to read the book.

Revelations picks up where Book 2 left off, the group is still reeling from their losses and Cade being shot by an unknown sniper. Who knew that a trip to the CDC could be so exciting? Hunkered down in a new safe house, Brandt exhibits some emotional responses that appear peculiar to the others but then they’re all dealing with losing close friends and relatives. Amidst all this is news that something interesting has happened to a couple that as the story continues, shouldn’t have happened at all.

Remy, ever the quasi-psychopath, isn’t handling the loss of Ethan too well. Not that anyone could blame her but with the news that Brandt spilled last book about being part of an experiment and then all the events and encounters that happened to bring us to this point, no one can blame her. The tension between Remy and Brandt is palpable and at any time you expect one or both of them to come to blows or weapons.

There are several key twists and turns that are revealed in this book and I’m not going to go into them as it would ruin reading this book for others. Suffice it to say that this is the book in the series where several questions will be answered so be prepared for shock and awe.

Jessica Meigs’ writing style is dead on for this series. She hits action and suspense and keeps the thrills coming. For me, it was like being on a rollercoaster where just when you thought you could catch your breath, another hill appeared and dropped you into a screaming chasm of terror. Not too many books affect me this way so it was a pleasant treat to be able to read Revelations.

Overall, Revelations keeps The Becoming series fresh with increased action, several plot twists, literal death defying escapes, and enough action and zombie gore splatter goodness to keep any fan happy and content. If you’ve read all the books in the series up to this point, don’t miss this one.
