I’d love to take credit for this one personally with how much we’ve had to say about ‘Pride and Prejudice and Zombies’ in book, game, and movie news formats but this one came straight from Variety and last week no less.
Oops.
It looks as if there is both an actress AND a director attached now so we may just see this move come to (un)life yet!
Whose behind the Pride and Prejudice and Zombies film?
Well it looks as if Lily Collins (Mirror Mirror) will be playing the part of Elizabeth Bennet and Director Burr Steers (Weeds) will be putting the film together. Natalie Portman and Annette Savitch of Handsomecharlie films, Sean McKittrick of Darko Entertainment and Allison Shearmur of Allison Shearmur Productions are producing.
What’s Pride and Prejudice and Zombies even about anyway?
For those that live under a rock it was a break out hit book that has gone through production hell to be turned into a film. The plot summary of the book though was:
“It is a truth universally acknowledged that a zombie in possession of brains must be in want of more brains.â€
So begins Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, an expanded edition of the beloved Jane Austen novel featuring all-new scenes of bone-crunching zombie mayhem. As our story opens, a mysterious plague has fallen upon the quiet English village of Meryton—and the dead are returning to life! Feisty heroine Elizabeth Bennet is determined to wipe out the zombie menace, but she’s soon distracted by the arrival of the haughty and arrogant Mr. Darcy. What ensues is a delightful comedy of manners with plenty of civilized sparring between the two young lovers—and even more violent sparring on the blood-soaked battlefield. Can Elizabeth vanquish the spawn of Satan? And overcome the social prejudices of the class-conscious landed gentry? Complete with romance, heartbreak, swordfights, cannibalism, and thousands of rotting corpses, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies transforms a masterpiece of world literature into something you’d actually want to read.
Will the film finally come together or will it be stuck with both the director and lead actress leaving once again?
