In Kalamazoo, MI on August 10th 2013? Zombie Dash!

A fun little zombie run is going on in Kalamazoo, MI and here are the details!

DATE: Unknown; post-apocalypse

SITUATION: Dire. Recon footage shows rural fortifications are on the brink of collapse. The viral outbreak is projected to go full-scale, spreading like wildfire among the dense populations of the city.

MISSION: You are part of a small band of survivors on a scouting mission. Your team’s mission is to scout the urban quarantine area under the cover of darkness. Avoid the ravenous zombie hordes roaming the night and make it back to safety.

Can you survive The Zombie Dash?

August 10, 2013 (registration now open!)
Spring Valley Park, Kalamazoo

Time: Sunset to darkness

Option 1: Survivor/Runner

Run five kilometers on post-apocalyptic streets and paths
Race against darkness
Dodge the zombies and keep your “flag football” life strips to avoid infection and stay alive (time bonus)

Option 2: Zombie (FREE but you must register)

Dress and act like the undead, freak out the survivors
Infect the survivors by grabbing their flags

FORMAT
Run a five kilometer course. Dodge zombies looking for “fast food.” Race against darkness and survive the Zombie apocalypse.

You’ll be given two “life strips” – flag football flags – to tuck in your shorts or pants, if you want them. For each one you keep for entire race, you’ll have one minute subtracted from your time. No worries if you lose both; you are not disqualified. JUST KEEP RUNNING and enjoy the experience of racing the most unique night race ever held.

ZOMBIE ROLE
Zombies stay out on the course for all waves. Zombies do not run the course; they wait for runners along the way, scaring them and grabbing their life strips but at a realistically slow pace. Any zombies who are over-aggressive, knock down runners, or make the experience miserable for any reason will be eaten themselves. Seriously, we reserve the right to yank you off the course or ban you from future races for obvious infractions. More on this under the Rules page.

Can runners dress as zombies? That would be really confusing and might result in cannibalism. Please pick one role or the other. Runners run; zombies eat within a small area.
