Now this is a piece of news I am very excited to be reporting on. I was a HUGE fan of The Dead Of Night and know that our reviewer of the novel was as well. Pretty much anything that Jonathan Maberry puts out is gold and this one is no exception. In fact this could be one of my favorite works of his to date. So hearing that it’s going to be turned into a feature length movie? Excitement doesn’t even begin to cover what I’m feeling!
Thanks to Dread Central we’ve found out that Eric Red (‘The Hitcher’) wants to return to the director’s chair after a hiatus and start off by taking Jonathan Maberry’s ‘The Dead of Night’ to the big screen. While Eric hasn’t quite done zombies before he’s done quite a bit in both writing and directing in the horror genre and from what of it I’ve seen I can say it’s been enjoyable.
So what do you say, are you read for a movie based on one of Maberry’s works? Is Eric the right man for bringing The Dead Of Night to the big screen? Are you eagerly looking forward to a new zombie movie or are you worried on how this one may turn out?
What’s The Dead of Night about?
A prison doctor injects a condemned serial killer with a formula designed to keep his consciousness awake while his body rots in the grave. But all drugs have unforeseen side effects. Before he could be buried, the killer wakes up. Hungry. Infected. Contagious. Small town cop Dez Fox and her partner JT are caught in a wave of murder as everyone they know and love die, only to rise again as the ravenous living dead. If Dez and JT can’t contain the plague inside the town limits, the infection will spread beyond all control. This is the way the world ends. Not with a bang… but a bite.
