AMC is busy with spinoffs this year. The network behind the wildly successful Breaking Bad, recently announced a spinoff in the works called Better Call Saul, based on the Bob Odenkirk’s Saul Goodman character who played lawyer to Walter White and Jesse Pinkman. Just a few days later, AMC announced its plans for a companion series to accompany The Walking Dead for 2015.

Unlike Better Call Saul, the concept behind this other show is still a secret. All we know is it will take place in the same post-apocalyptic world as The Walking Dead. There’s no information on characters or plot, so the possibilities are endless. AMC could tell a deeper story of an existing character or create new ones altogether. But already, fans are coming up with what they want to see the most.

A Michonne Story

The baddest girl in Georgia with a blade, Michonne, is both a favorite and a mystery on The Walking Dead. Season three gave some basic background info, but her story is otherwise an unknown. A Michonne spinoff would be a great way to see how she learned to wield a katana, survive on her own, and detail some pieces of her life before the outbreak (seeing her with the two zombie slaves was pretty sweet).

A Governor Story

Oh, do we just love to hate our favorite one-eyed villain. The smooth-talking leader of Woodbury with a southern drawl, the Governor rules his people with a by-any-means-necessary attitude that creates the perfect antithesis to Rick’s constantly battled morality. Unlike Michonne, we have plenty of info on the Governor — but the more we learn, the less we know. How did Phillip go from ordinary Georgian to commander? What was he like before his daughter was turned? All these would be ripe for answering in the Governor’s own series.

A Hershel Story

The Walking Dead introduced Hershel and family in season two and now, of those characters remaining, they’re an essential piece to the show. Before Rick and his gang stumbled upon Hershel’s farm (thanks, Carl), the family had an interesting way of staying safe and dealing with the walkers in their back yard. Maybe for some extra fan fair, show Hershel listening to a call from Rick over his Roadpost satellite phone. It would be interesting to see how the family managed as the zombie outbreak started and how they kept closed off from the world (though this story would be a little thin).

An Origin Story

There’s a pretty important gap while Rick is unconscious in the hospital. From the gang’s time at the CDC, we know what the zombie virus is and how it works, but we never got to see how and why it got so out of hand in the first place. This concept could introduce a whole new cast and follow them through the origin of the outbreak while also giving insider info on what the disease is really all about.

A Whole New World

AMC did call this new show a “companion series,” which implies the stories of this new spinoff and The Walking Dead could take place at the same time. Our view of this post-apocalyptic world is really limited to a small portion of Georgia. Let us see how another crew is holding up on California, or Mexico, or Canada. It can be anywhere, really, as long as the rules of survival (like a region controlled by marshal law) are different to give the new show a different flavor.

A nice little bonus would be if both crews from the spinoff and The Walking Dead could cross paths and bring the two stories together. Whatever this new show could be, AMC does not often disappoint.
