What’s ‘Blood, Brains, and Bullets’ About?
Blood, Brains and Bullets is Book One of the new Blood, Brains and Bullets series by Sean Liebling. It starts on Day One of the Outbreak and continues through the first seven full days after its apocalyptic climax.
Jay has started his daily routine as a single father of three, when the news hits of massive deaths— then reanimations—from the vaccine distributed by the government to combat the super-flu virus that has been sweeping the globe. For Jay, it’s irritating because it interrupts his normal comedic attempts at nailing every sweet piece of ass in the area. Being a survivalist means he has a lot of ‘stuff’, as you can never have too much, and before he can even take shelter in his homemade retreat to ride out the apocalypse, friends start showing up who need his help. Before he knows it, he’s forced into the unenviable position of assuming leadership over his community, or what’s left of it, and fighting on multiple fronts against the forces of the evil undead, neighboring marauders, and assassins of a Shadow Government with a secret, 200-year-old New World Order Eugenics plan. Of course, that plan of theirs doesn’t include him and his, so this Marine does what all Marines do best: He kicks ass without bothering to take names, and along the way he happens to fall into the clutches of a girl or three. Women can be very demanding. Even during a Zombie Apocalypse!
Jay is a dedicated self-styled player who gets lucky more often than not, and has a soft spot for children. As one of ‘those survivalists’ they always talk about on the news, he’s better prepared than most when the shit hits the fan. During the coming days and weeks, he will be forced through circumstances to grow up (reluctantly) and does his utmost to save his community from the forces of the secret Shadow Government, while melding close friends, survivors, and salvaged military units on the run into a force to be reckoned with! But it isn’t over yet, because Jay is a Marine, and he has a few tricks up his sleeve which he fully intends to implement while accumulating as many girlfriends as possible.
This series will have you laughing hysterically at Jay’s womanizing antics, then crying like a baby during scenes of heartrending tragedy and sacrifice. It will also make you cheer when and if the forces of good triumph over those of evil. Written with the help of a medical doctor and a doctor of psychology, along with survivalist friends of all stripes, the scenes you read inside are what would really happen in an endgame situation with a comedic spin to it.
This book is a testament to what good men can do when doing nothing simply isn’t an option! The trick is to act quickly and decisively. Being a Marine also helps, of course!
Our ‘Blood, Brains, and Bullets’ Review
In ‘Blood, Brains, and Bullets’ the author Sean Liebling gives us an unbelievable yet extremely entertaining tale of what could happen in the eventual zombie apocalypse. Throughout the story we’ll be following Jay, an ex-marine turned prepper and chauvinistic pig that is apparently also God’s gift to women. Yes while all zombies include violence this one is going to need an extra warning label from it’s sexual charged atmosphere. We’ll get to that last part in a minute though over and over again. I’m actually kind of surprised it wasn’t named ‘Blood, Brains, and Boobs’! The story begins with Jay having an average day around town when things start going wrong.
The zombie apocalypse starts to occur and Jay is actually one of the few people prepared for the world to end. He’s got plans for keeping his family and friends safe and these plans have long term implications. His first step is to of course secure his children (he has 3). He doesn’t want to live alone though and isn’t the type of person to ignore others so goes on a mission to save neighbors and friends. Right after that though is to save a couple highly attractive women he knows about.
Speaking of attractive women there are four female leads though we’ll only focus on the three who survive: Cara – the hot little Mexican firecracker, Corey Rider – the ex-lesbian tech specialist who hides her looks turned submissive lover, and Jean – the neighbor’s daughter. Yes, it’s the end of the world so sharing is caring and he get’s shared between the lot of them quite often. As he slowly saves more and more people it starts turning into his own little Utopia. His own grounds are not enough to sustain them all so they start to spread throughout the town. Securing houses, killing off undead, and generally making things a better world. All good things must come to an end though and we have a few big problems on the horizon.
You know, problems aside from being surrounded by swarms of the undead.
There’s a slightly insane religious group involved in the mix, a group of survivors who want Jay’s resources as their own, and the people who are actually behind the outbreak which have taken over what is left of the military and the world. Give the military some credit though as pockets of them are resisting the people who have brought the world to it’s knees and end up joining Jay’s group (again with him in charge) in order to save the world.
The book leaves off with a lot of questions and it would be remiss to leave out that there are some editing and grammatical issues. Even with those it’s such an easy and fun read you’ll be able to skip past them pretty quickly. What you won’t be skipping past is the multitude of sex scenes with Jay and his women as they seem to crop up every 5 pages. Jay is clearly a better man than I as that much sex would wear a man down alone let alone fighting zombies, running that large of a group of people, taking care of your kids, oh and trying to eat and sleep as well.
It’s a fun read that you won’t be disappointed in and I highly suggest picking it up!
