What’s ‘Apocalypse Cow’ About?
If you think you’ve seen it all — WORLD WAR Z, THE WALKING DEAD– you haven’t seen anything like this. From the twisted brain of Michael Logan comes Apocalypse Cow, a story about three unlikely heroes who must save Britain . . . from a rampaging horde of ZOMBIE COWS!
Forget the cud. They want blood.
It began with a cow that just wouldn’t die. It would become an epidemic that transformed Britain’s livestock into sneezing, slavering, flesh-craving four-legged zombies.
And if that wasn’t bad enough, the fate of the nation seems to rest on the shoulders of three unlikely heroes: an abattoir worker whose love life is non-existent thanks to the stench of death that clings to him, a teenage vegan with eczema and a weird crush on his maths teacher, and an inept journalist who wouldn’t recognize a scoop if she tripped over one.
As the nation descends into chaos, can they pool their resources, unlock a cure, and save the world?
Three losers.
Overwhelming odds.
One outcome . . .Yup, we’re screwed.
Our ‘Apocalypse Cow’ Review
What Michael Logan has written here isn’t necessarily humor but it’s strange and offbeat enough to fall into that category (and not many other places!) Let’s be honest when you think of the zombie outbreak, cows are not the first that that probably come to mind. In fact, animals in general are usually ignored and this is one of those cases where you are going to just get a slew of brain eating critters who want nothing more that to be pet, by your succulent insides as they burrow within them!
In this tale we follow three people who aren’t only survivors but quite possible are mankind’s last chance of stopping this undeadish animal outbreak that has sprung up in the UK. The three protagonists are Terry (who works in a slaughterhouse and is the central outbreak point where he actually is held captive by one of those who are behind the outbreak!) We’ll also be following a reporter named Lesley who gets fired just as she finds out the biggest break of her life. She also ends up trapped with Terry as the investigative bug has gotten the best of her. Finally we see Geldof whose a teenager with a crummy life and barely escapes from being attacked by a cow and finds the two women he has a crush on holding up in his house.
While we might start off with some mooing craving critters trying to get at us it’s not long until all of the animals are suddenly eager to violently act out, and on their down time get it on. These are some ever so horny critters when they aren’t trying to bite our heads off.
It’s sick. It’s twisted. It’s more of a virus than a zombie outbreak. It’s focus is animals. It’s the Cowpocalypse and it’s worth a read if weird is your thing!
