When preparing for the zombie apocalypse it’s important to have the right ride picked out, and a motorcycle is the right decision for those who plan to go it alone. Motorcycle technology has evolved dramatically over the last few decades. Here are some of the top-of-the line motorcycles built for surviving the end of the world as we know it:

Triumph Rocket III Roadster

The Triumph Rocket III Roadster is a 2.3 liter, three cylinder beast meant for long trips and agile maneuvering through both urban and highway settings – a perfect motorcycle for the end of the world. The Rocket III is one of Triumph’s flagship motorcycles, and comes standard with massive twin headlights and an ABS brake system for safe riding even in the dead of night or through cities where the power has long since gone out. With a big six gallon tank, the 800 pound Rocket III is great bike for experienced riders and will run for days across the wasteland without stopping for gas. For a consumer bike, it is a perfect fit for the lone rider surviving doomsday.

Stealth Bikes

For those hoping to sneak unnoticed through the crumbling ruins of empty cities in the zombie end-times, a stealthy bike is preferable to a roaring roadster. The Logos-designed stealth motorcycle commissioned by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency uses a BRD Redshift electric racing bike as the base model for its multi-fuel hybrid stealth bike, according to a recent article on Wired.

While the Redshift is affordable, those with other makes of bikes, such as Kawasaki racers, may want the benefits of an electrical conversion without having to buy a new bike; luckily there are retailers like Bike Bandit that have everything you need to outfit such a bike with the same sort of technology used to create military-grade stealth bikes.

Not relying on fuel such as gasoline to survive in the apocalypse might destroy your Mad Max fantasies, but electric bikes are not only more reliable and can be powered from anywhere with a generator, but run much quieter as well. If there’s anything you want to avoid when sneaking through cities in the end of the world, it is capturing the attention of a horde of undead walkers with your loud engine as you pass by.

Military Grade Motorcycle Machines

For those with deep pockets or friends in high places, the final stage in zombie survival from the back of a motorcycle comes in the form of The Raider armored vehicle designed by BAE Systems. Auto In The News recently reported the Raider motorcycle-like vehicle is being designed in BAE Systems’ Future Protected Vehicle Division with electronic camouflage systems that function using ink not unlike a squid’s natural camouflage. While zombies are clearly the most dangerous enemy in the zombie apocalypse, other armed survivors are dangerous, as well. The Raider is designed to use a electro-magnetic defense system to intercept incoming fire and disrupt targeting systems used by devices such as rocket launchers. While it might seem a little over the top, all’s fair in love and zombies.
