Things have been quiet in the crowdfunding world for a while. Partially because the bubble is… well it’s not bursting, but it does seem to be a lot smaller than it used to be. I may have missed a couple interesting projects, but for the most part there just haven’t been too many interesting projects.

We have an interesting project today, but full disclosure: Theresa Derwin, a contributor for Buy Zombie, is involved in this project, so we may be favorably inclined towards this great Kickstarter project that you should definitely donate to.

Andromeda Two is a one-day SF, fantasy and horror convention taking place in Digbeth, Birmingham. (That’s in the UK, not in Alabama.) They plan on having all the events one normally has at a small con, and having been to and involved with a few small cons myself, it sounds like a lot of fun. Big cons are great and all, but the real action happens at small cons. You get to know the guests better, you get to discover a lot of lesser-known talent, there’s a greater feeling of camaraderie among the guests, and they’re much less expensive. Well, less expensive for attendees. I can say from personal experience that for the people putting small cons together, it can seem pretty expensive. The good news here is that they don’t really need that much money. Just three thousand British pounds. The bad news is that they still have a long ways to go.

I have to apologize since this project has less than a week left, and I should have gotten to it sooner. But it’s still not too late to donate and show your support. Even if you can’t make it yourself, it’s always good to help out the little guy.

As always, please remember that no crowdsourced project is guaranteed. Please familiarize yourself with exactly how Kickstarter, and other crowdsourcing sites you visit work so you can donate your money knowing what risks are inherent when donating.
