While they aren’t quite zombies, Bryce Bentley Summers delivers a very zombie-esque post-apocalyptic world with a ton of fun mixed in. Set in 2030 the events all take place in a super city called Rotville which is where those who are infected are sent for quarantine to live out the remainder of their days.

Sound bad enough? Within the city is a prison that holds hundreds of inmates which are being used as live test subjects for the wardens insane experiments. Those inside are the worst of the worst to be in a city full of mutants as part of their guards so on one is going to really end up seeing who is missing or… changed. The wardens goal is to make enhanced humans for his own private army. Dylan is selected for this program and he is the lead who we are following throughout the tale. A “psychologically disturbed inmate” is set to become a killing machine though instead of being mindless things go awry. A group of the other test subjects break out and the researcher in charge of him reprograms him to have free will, and to save her son.

Can Dylan break out, stop the mutants, save her son, and escape capture? There is only one way to find out and that’s by grabbing a copy and reading through it! Not set so far into the future that the technology used isn’t feasible and while some of the genetic manipulation used might be a bit much for fifteen years from now while having also just dealt with a zombie-esque outbreak, you’ll be able to easily suspend your disbelief from the non-stop action that carries you through. Some great writing and character changes will keep you wanting more!
