Well according to Bloody Disgusting in a recent interview with Tom Savini it looks as if AMC has someone in mind to play The Governor and that person is John Hawkes. While John is a great actor I really feel that Savini would be a better fit for the roll. He has the ability to truly bring that feeling of sociopathic unfeeling cruelty to the big screen and already has the look for the roll.

Maybe it’s because Savini is a horror icon. Maybe it’s because he’s been knee deep in the zombie genre since the beginning. Maybe it’s because he WANTS the roll but I really feel he should be at the top of the list for this one. Oh well. John isn’t a bad actor in the slightest I just feel for this roll it should be Tom.

“Listen, I have been campaigning to be the governor on that damn thing with Greg Nicotero for over a year,” Savini explains. “Everytime I see the graphic novel, and I see a picture of the governor, who looks just like me, I send Greg a picture. I just won’t give up. Last time I talked to him about it, when I was in Los Angeles, he said they were going after a name for that part. I said, “Who?” He said John Hawkes. Well, I never heard of John Hawkes. But then he reminds me that we were in ‘From Dusk Till Dawn’ together. He is the guy at the beginning in the store that fires on them. Apparently he was up for an Academy Award. He was up for something called ‘Winter’s Bone’. That’s whom they are going after for The Governor. But everyone I talk to, the people that read the graphic novels…They’ve all said that I would be the perfect governor. Because he is tough and brutal. And…I look just like the graphic depiction of him!”

I’m pretty sure I mentioned before that we had posted what had to have been the final trailer for the 3DS game Resident Evil Revelations. I’m pretty sure that this post means I was wrong. Wrong and lying to you that we were done with Revelations trailers as the official launch trailer has to be the ‘final’ trailer. Thankfully this is for a handheld so it’s not like there will be a DLC trailer to show off later… right?

So being a dog person when I found out that we’re going to have a talking dog going around with a gorilla that has a baseball bat and taking care of the undead. We have a few panels to show off and the official press release to wet your appetite for this comic due out later this month.

In the wake of a zombie apocalypse, a hyper-intelligent Golden Retriever named Rex, a sign language-speaking gorilla, and a small pack of animals begin a perilous cross-country journey to find safety…and a home.

“I’ve always wondered what happens to pets when the zombies arrive,” explained writer Rob Anderson. “And I’ve always loved stories that show the heart and tenacity of animals, like WE3 and HOMEWARD BOUND / THE INCREDIBLE JOURNEY. In REX ZK, the animals are trying to make their way across California to an underground government bunker where the scientist who raised Rex is now in hiding. But Rex isn’t necessarily revealing everything he knows about the situation to his pack.”

“This is a story I’ve been wanting to tell since at least 2008, because it combines three of my big passions: animals, zombies and comic books,” Anderson said. “My constant writing companions are my dog and cat, and they’re well trained for the coming zombie apocalypse with their patented ‘play dead’ routine.”

The book was also a perfect fit for cover and interior artist DaFu Yu. “From an artistic standpoint, I love drawing monsters, and zombies fit in that category,” Yu said. “I’m already detail-oriented in my style, but I go a little crazy when I draw zombies!”

Well the writer and diretor behind Warm Bodies have often insisted that the film is not going to follow in the footsteps of Twilight. On August 10th movie goers are going to be finding out if that’s true. The problem though is that Nicholas Hoult and Teresa Palmer sure as hell don’t look like they are going away from Twilight with the latest poster. I think the writer and PR guys need to get together and talk about what they actually want to do with the film.

Zombies love people, especially their brains. But R (Nicholas Hoult) is different. He’s alive inside, unlike the hundreds of other grunting, drooling undead—all victims of a recent plague that drove the remaining survivors into a heavily guarded city. Now the Zombies roam about an airport terminal, searching for human prey and living in fear of the vicious Boneys, the next undead incarnation.

One day, R and his best friend M lumber toward the city in search of food. There, R first sets his eyes on JULIE, a beautiful human. Determined to save her—first from the other Zombies and then from the Boneys—R hides her in his home, a cluttered 747 aircraft. Julie is terrified, and R’s grunted assurances of “Not…eat” do little to calm her. But when R begins to act more human than Zombie, coming to her defense, refusing to eat human flesh, and even speaking in full sentences, Julie realizes that R is special.

After a few close calls with the Boneys, and with her father mounting an armed search for her, Julie realizes she can’t hide forever. So she sneaks back home, leaving R broken-hearted. Desperate to see her, R decides to comb his hair, stand a little straighter, and impersonate a human long enough to get past the city guards. If only he can prove to the humans that Zombies can change, maybe R and Julie’s love might stand a chance. But with the rampaging Boneys heading toward the city and Julie’s father intent on killing R and his Zombie friends, the stage is set for an all-out battle between the living and the undead.

Alan Goldsher created an amazing zombie book in Paul is Undead and as a fan of The Beatles and a fan of anything that comes from Chicago I am happy to share that he has put together the sequel in Give Death a Chance: The British Zombie Invasion 2 and if its even half as entertaining as the first novel will be a must see. Coming in March if you enjoyed the first one you’ll have to be prepping to pick up the new one to see how the British zombie invasion is still going!

So if you are going to be home this coming weekend (Starting Saturday February 11th and going through Sunday) and need to catch up on The Walking Dead as well as watch the new episode once it starts up on Sunday… having your television tuned to AMC is the way to go!

The Walking Dead returns with all-new episodes on Sun., Feb. 12 at 9/8c. Which may leave the uninitiated panicking about how they can possibly catch up in time. Worry not! On Sat., Feb. 11 at 8/7c, AMC begins a two-day The Walking Dead marathon on-air covering the full series to date. First comes all six episodes of Season 1 back-to-back on Saturday starting at 8/7c. Then on Sunday, the marathon continues with Season 2 episodes starting at 1:30PM/12:30c, leading right into the Midseason Premiere, “Nebraska” at 9/8c.

Lollipop Chainsaw is a game that has a lot of people interested. I’m sure it has everything to do with with the hordes of undead you are going to be using a chainsaw on and nothing to do with the fact that the main character is a scantily clad woman in most of the screen shots. Still, the fact that one of the pre-order outfits dresses her up like Ash from Evil Dead is pretty damn awesome if you ask me.

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has announced some extra goodies for those of you that pre-order Lollipop Chainsaw in North America. If you put down the cash to guarantee your copy on launch day you can customize the zombie-hunting cheerleader, Juliet with five different outfits.
