When Plants Vs Zombies March On New York City

I had mentioned previously that Plants Vs Zombies was having a Halloween Parade. I know it’s been awhile since that happened but I’ve been sent a few great pictures from the event and knew you would all appreciate them.

Thanks to one of our readers who was at the event, Stephen Rosia, we have 20 pictures to show you of the chaos that ensued!

The best part of hearing about this event? Every time the parade stopped moving for traffic they would play out the game in real life! Two huge fake grass mats would roll out and an army of plants would line up in order:

“Mushrooms in front kneeling, then peashooters standing, then walnuts or sunflowers. Mushrooms and pea shooters threw plastic balls on strings at the approaching zombies, which where normal, road cone, bucket head, screen door shield, and zombie temp worker. If we hit them a few times they would fall over. if they reached us they eat us and then kept going, zombie temp worker was the one who was suppose brake threw. all simple and easy sounding”

Of course that’s NEVER the case on such a huge event? Between quite a few plants not hearing the call to line up to zombies trying to eat the children who were watching the event- chaos ensued! A fun chaos, but chaos nonetheless.

With the crowd calling out names of plants, zombies, and a give away with PVZ games, shirts, paper zombies, plant masks, buttons, brain ooze energy drinks, and sunflower seeds it was sure to be a fun time by all. Even the plants that were overheating in their masks and being rained on for a portion of it. Overall it sounds like it had to have been a blast and something that really needs to be done in Chicago. Not that I’m biased towards Chicago. *coughs*

NYC Zombie Crawl on October 25th

We’ve clearly been feeling a lot of the New York love as of late! From Zombie Proms to Zombie Dance Parties to a Zombie Parade we’ve been trying to keep you up to date with all of the latest zombie news going on in New York. Aside from shotguns what goes great with a zombie outbreak? Alcohol! That being the case how can we not let you know about a Zombie pub crawl?

When there is no more booze in Hell, the Dead will walk the Earth…

Sunday, October 25th – NYC Zombie Crawl 2009 – Starts at 5pm!
This is the official 2009 NYC Zombie Crawl Event for Halloween!
Starting at Beauty Bar – 231 E 14th St – New York, NY 10003 (Btwn 2nd and 3rd Ave) – from 5-6:30pm for the pre-game, zombies will then crawl around the Lower East Side to several bars then come back to the Beauty Bar for an open Domaine de Canton bar from 10-11pm and the Zombie Beauty Pageant!

Since this event is taking place at bars, everyone must be 21+ for this event! Please come as a member of the undead, we will not have official makeup stations at this crawl. You are invited to bring your own makeup and help zombify yourself and others if you’d like. We’ll be doing a can drive again, zombies feeding the homeless with NYC Food Bank and Halloween Adventure! Its happened, that Zombie invasion we all joked about is here in New York City. We are reaching out to survivors that haven’t been infected yet to meet up at Sapphire -249 Eldridge St at 10pm to party one last time. When they come we will be ready for them!

Plants Vs Zombies To Infect The New York City Halloween Parade

OK this just isn’t fair. Clearly this should be happening in Chicago as well! Repeat after me- “I am not jealous of New York’s Halloween Parade right now.” Say it 3 times. Didn’t help? Try it another few times! Still didn’t help? Me either. So yes I AM jealous that NYC gets the Plants Vs Zombies crew, zombies, and fellow guest zombies in their parade this year. That sounds like something that is fully picture worthy and I’d love to see first hand. So here’s the press release, if you aren’t in NYC you can be jealous with me, if you are in NYC? PopCap Games, the leading developer and publisher of broadly appealing video games, today announced its participation in New York City’s 36th Annual Village Halloween Parade as an In-Parade Sponsor happening Saturday evening, October 31st . The parade kicks off at 7:00 p.m. PopCap will be assembling a throng of plants and zombies to celebrate the massive success of its best-selling title of 2009, Plants vs. Zombies™, and give away themed merchandise to some of the one million plus spectators who’ll watch the parade wind its way through Manhattan. PopCap is inviting all Plants vs. Zombies (PvZ) fans, zombie lovers and macabre gardening types to come out dressed in their favorite PvZ costume and join the celebration on Halloween night.

Halloween revelers who join the PvZ contingent will be eligible for the costume contest which will occur immediately following the parade.
