REVIEW: Zombies on the Loose by Anne Rooney

The Buyzombie.com staff knows that adults are not the only crowd of people who like zombies. Children may also find the undead fascinating. That’s why we search and explore the undead world looking for literature that will relate to children. I have found such a book and would like to share it with our viewers.

*Zombies on the Loose* is a small and very short book that explains what zombies are. Of course the author takes us into the fiction side of zombies but Rooney mainly focuses on the Voodoo side of the undead. Each step of the way she takes the reader further into the reasons why zombies were pushed into the mainstream. There is a fascinating true-life story of a man who claimed to be turned into a zombie. Is he telling the truth? It’s up to the reader to decide.

Children would really like this book. The illustrations are fun to look at and the information in the book is interesting. The book does focus mainly on the Voodoo side of zombification but there are brief discussions in the beginning about the modern day film zombie. One wonderful trait about this book is that it has more of a skeptical feel rather than a point of view from someone who really believes in zombies. I feel that a skeptical approach is more suitable for young children. There are a lot of lies and trickery in the world so it’s best to start being skeptical at a younger age.

Buyzombie.com recommends *Zombies on the Loose* to anyone with children interested in zombies. Not just the creatures that eats flesh but also the voodoo belief that one can be turned into a zombie slave. If you have children please pick up a copy for your kids. They will have fun reading up on why people believe in zombies.
