REVIEW: Moonlit Daydreams by Rebecca Carter

Rebecca Carter is a first time author who is trying to get her work out there. She contacted us at BuyZombie.com and asked if we could help her out. We are fans of self-published and independent work so we agreed. Carter’s book, Moonlit Daydreams, is a collection of five very, very short stories. The book itself is a very short but a fun read. Since we are a zombie Website, I will only review the short story Of Children. The rest of the book has other non-zombie related topics such as Vampire and Werewolves. Even though they are fun stories we will not be talking about them here.

Dr. Shaver’s life is turned upside-down when she is faced with a monster that should not exist. A plague is slowly making its way around the word turning the infected into walking corpses. Her experience and knowledge make her the perfect candidate to come up with a solution. Raptors Is the only thing that comes to her mind. She quickly creates raptors to use as a weapon against the infected. Unaware of the reaction raptors will have from the infection, they are unleashed to help the situation only to become victims themselves. The raptors turn on their creators and now are smarter versions of the walking dead.

Of Children was a very fun read. There were some minor spelling mistakes and sentences that seemed out of place but it’s a good first attempt. The rest of the short stories in Moonlit Daydreams do not involve zombie but are worth reading. They are very short so they can be read in a matter of minutes. It only took me a half hour to finish the book.

Overall, Moonlit Daydreams is a fun book to read but too short. Some of the plot ideas are well thought out but they lack substance. Carter would have wonderful novellas if she would continue writing her stories but instead they stop just as quickly as they start.

BuyZombie.com recommends this book to people who want to read fun short stories. If you are looking for a story that is in-depth and takes you into another world this may not be the book for you. We would like to thank Rebecca Carter for giving us a copy of Moonlit Daydreams to review. It was a fun read and we will continue to support her writing.
