The Walking Dead Shuffles Towards Best New Series Award

The Writers Guild of America(WGA) has announced their award nominees for this year and The Walking Dead is among them!

The Walking Dead has been nominated for Best New Series and writers Frank Darabont; Charles H. Eglee, Robert Kirkman, Jack LoGiudice and Glen Mazzara are listed as being up for nomination. The other contenders? Boardwalk Empire and Treme (HBO), Men of a Certain Age (TNT) and Justified (FX.)

My personal take is only Boardwalk Empire could give it a run for it’s money (though I have no idea what Treme is.) While I haven’t watched Men of a Certain Age it’s not the type of show that would stand out for me and while I really enjoyed Justified it has NOTHING on either The Walking Dead or Boardwalk Empire. (I just looked up Treme, it’s about the rebuilding of New Orleans after Katrina. Doesn’t “sound” that interesting but between being on HBO and having an AMAZING writing and producing staff this one is most likely a serious contender and now something I need to watch.)
