Game Review: Zombie Smash! – iPhone
ZombieSmash! is a “Survival Comedy†game for the iPhone and iPod touch, featuring undead-themed castle defense and entertaining, physics-based gameplay.
Summary
5/5 – I took a hiatus from zombie games because of this one. I typically finish all games before doing a review, and this one is so in-depth and has so much to do, it literally took me until last week to finish it completely.
Controls
5/5 – Easy to tap, easy to flick, easy to smash. But more importantly, it’s fun.
Graphics
5/5 – What’s more fun than watching zombie parts fly across your screen? Performing live sniper practice on the upcoming zombie invasion that is sure to doom our planet. This is the runner-up.
Sound
5/5 – While there’s no awesome soundtrack that I want to listen to as I fall asleep in my bathtub holding a shotgun every night, the music is very zombie-ish, and the myriad of sounds as zombies die at your fingertips is very enjoyable.
Story
4/5 – Zombie games have really no story line, and this is no exception. There’s a kid giving you a summary of what’s coming up and that’s about it, but at least it’s consistent. Given that no other zombie game in recent history has given much of a story, I’m graceful with this one.
Replay Value
5/5 – After you finish the month’s worth of zombie invasion, you’re not done with the game. There are bonus levels to play (at any time during the game, not just when you’ve finished), increased difficulty mode, and an “endless zombie†level that I can’t wait to play again when I’m done with this write-up.
Pricing
5/5 – At the time of this review it’s $1.99 in the app store. I’m generally against games over 99-cents, mainly because I’m a penny pincher in real life, but Zombie Smash! is worth at least double this cost. View additional screenshots at the link below.
