Game Review: – iPhone

Summary

4/5 – For as much as I didn’t like this game, Aftermath has some amazing key features. It would definitely be on the top 10 list of greatest games for the iPhone if not for its few flaws.

Controls

5/5 – The control system is hands down the best I’ve played with so far on my iPhone. Autoshooting when you are in line of sight of zombies helps incredibly, and the maneuvering from the birds-eye view is very well done. If only it wasn’t for the…

Graphics

2/5 – Here’s my major ding with Aftermath. First off, you’re going to need to turn your Brightness setting on the iPhone/iPad/iPod up. Way up. Max that baby out, in fact. Normally I have my phone very low to conserve battery life, but this game is too dark straight from the first level. The flashes of lightning don’t help too much for visibility, and street lamps are a joke. You’d think the first level would take place in the daytime, and subsequent levels would increase in difficulty by way of increased darkness, but not here. As such, it’s a tough game to play the moment you start learning how the amazing controls work.

Sound

5/5 – The music is good, the sound effects are good. I could sit with the eerie music going on at my work desk all day. Maybe set it up with some speakers for Halloween. It’s not often I give a ‘4’ for the sound/music quality.

Story

4/5 – A better introduction may be nice, but that’s how it goes with zombie apocalypses, right? There are some explanations, at least.

Replay Value

4/5 – Once you’re used to the darkness and outstanding game controls, this game is fun to continuously run through.

Pricing

4/5 – 99 cents in the app store is more than a bargain for this game. I’m hoping an Aftermath 2 increases the visibility, however!
