Review: That’s Not Your Mommy Anymore: A Zombie Tale by: Matt Mogk

When I was a child I was subjected to the musings of Dr. Seuss, “Green Eggs and Ham” and “The Cat in the Hat” happy stories that rhymed…. But if this book had been around when I was just a wee zombie hunter I would have had at least two copies… One in my room and one in the bail out bag I have had packed in case of zombies since I first saw the original Dawn of the Dead when I was six!

The writer, Matt Mogk, has created a morbid work of children’s fiction that explains what to do in case you notice your mom is turning into a zombie. The story is short, easy to read, and entertaining.

The accompanying artwork is just Morbid enough to make the book fun for the zombie loving parents who would subject their warped children to such a book. A scene where the mom is burying her teeth into a cashier at a store sets the tone for the following pages that are full of cartoon zombies covered in blood as the young hero and his dog avoid the undead masses in the background.

Overall I found the book, though short (16 pages), pretty entertaining and would recommend it to all zombie lovers young and old.
