This movie was pretty hilarious since it takes an interestingly creative spin on the zombie genre, despite the fact that it touches on the classic concept of military project gone-wrong. The filmmakers decided to do a movie from the zombie’s perspective, which makes the audience realize that zombies are just people too…with a few set-backs. By the end of the movie, you are on the zombie-crew’s side and rooting for them to beat the system.

There was an interesting play with cinematography in an effort to distinguish between “reality” and “zombie-vision”. I enjoyed the black and white “reality” perspective because it was kind of a throw-back to classic zombie films. After watching the movie for five minutes it is obvious that this is an independent movie, which I like. It’s artsy and it goes beyond the stereotypical storyline within this horror genre. With it being an independent movie, there is not exactly the best acting, but it’s tolerable. The geeky guy sometimes makes you cringe because of his corniness, but I’m pretty sure that’s the point. I must say that I’m partial to the lead, Matt Davis, because of some of the other roles he’s played. He definitely made me laugh the most and kept me glued to the tube. Some of the actors were definitely hilarious in their interpretation of being a zombie, especially one particular person who looks like he has a major stick up his ass. You just can’t help but laugh at how ridiculous some of them look when it changes from “zombie-vision”.

The jokes are really funny. I couldn’t help but picture the writers of the movie being really stoned when they came up with the concept to write the movie. There are times when it gets “serious”, which makes you cringe and laugh. I definitely was not able to take this movie seriously at all, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. I guess it didn’t help that after these “serious” moments, there was usually some hilarious antic to lighten the mood. This concept just confirms that this film is supposed to be a light movie that puts a creative spin on the zombie genre.

Overall, this B-movie was pretty funny and I would definitely recommend it to zombie fans everywhere. I may even be inclined to think that it is cult quality. It isn’t necessarily scary, but it sure will crack you up. Random things happen that may make you go, “Ewwww!” but they never really show any feedings. This movie definitely stays away from blood and gore. There are a variety of crazy antics that have you going, “Really?” but I definitely appreciate this movie for what it is. Aaah! Zombies!!! puts a creative spin on what it is like to be a zombie, which is refreshing because the lack of originality with some movies today.
