This British movie is a classic combination of zombies and military gone wrong. What sets it apart is its humor and crazy antics. The movie puts an interesting spin on how the government chooses to monopolize off this plague by tapping into people’s inane love for shooting zombies. There are definitely a variety of interesting methods and antics in which zombies are killed throughout this zom-com. As a viewer, I started to get into the “game” and immediately thought about how I’d do things differently. So, in that respect, it definitely draws you in as a participant in the fun.

I can’t say the special effects are great, but I think that’s what makes it so funny. This film had interesting cinematography with a 70’s cult classic feel because of its grainy filter. So, if that’s what they were going for, then they did a good job. The background music switches between awesome and creepy due to one particular song that starts out “catchy” and just progresses into downright weird the more you hear it.

For all those zombie fanatics out there, there is a little bit of gushing blood and mediocre gore. There is also some interesting ways that zombies strike, which have you going, “Oh, damn!” I must say that the humor was corny at times, but I laughed none the less. Throughout the movie, you start to anticipate how and when each person is going to die because of the “rules” they choose to break…and of course, if they are just plain old douche-bags. There are a variety of surprises towards the end, which keep you rooting for the protagonists. I will say that there was ONE instance towards the end where I actually jumped but in retrospect, I don’t know why. The scene was pretty predictable like most of the movie. Overall, Stag Night of the Dead kept me interested, but I don’t know if I’d watch it again.
