miami-spy-games-part-2

This is the second ‘episode’ of Armand Rosamilia’s Miami Spy Games Russian Zombie Gun experience. Episodic content can do very well in video and gaming formats though I’m still not fully sold on the idea for novels. That being said I have no complaints about the plot itself as I’m even more hooked from the second episode then I was from the first! In our review of the first episode we were told that the Russians and American covert agencies had never really finished the Cold War. Yes, publicly it was over but in the world of espionage things were still carrying on as normal – people were going missing, weapons were being smuggled, people were being turned into zombies.

Wait. People were being turned into zombies? That’s the actual point of the Russian weapon that was being smuggled into the country. On the orders of a certain Russian President there was an order to continue creating weapons and one of the scientists, who was clearly a fellow fan of the undead, created a weapon right out of science fiction. It was a weapon that changed it’s target from a regular human being to someone who mimicked all actions of the undead.

In this episode a few things are going on but the prime focus is on Ozzie who was a low level smuggler that helped the Russians to get their shipments past inspections. Not fully on the up and up he decided to double cross his bosses and sell parts of their shipments on the side. Unfortunately for everyone involved the Zombie Guns passed through his sticky fingers and one of them went missing. On the run from the Russians and trying to score a quick payday to tide himself and his stripper girlfriend over Ozzie puts the word out that he’s looking to sell a weapon that should allow him a bit of time to lay low.

In keeping himself safe he had to use the weapon on another and the novel is playing on a certain incident that happened last year involving a drug you may remember as “Bath Salts” and entertainingly enough explain them the same way most of the Internet did – Bath Salt Zombies. Yes the entire bath salt portion was a ruse cooked up by the government to keep the populace from worrying about a real ‘zombie’ outbreak from happening. (Just like they did in real life!)

We also got a view of how things look on the US group ACES who are the counterparts to the Russians we are watching. They are actually the ones who ‘leaked’ the Bath Salt drug angle to the media and while we get an idea of what they are up to (and that it will tie into the main plot) at this time it isn’t a large focus. I’m sure that will change as the chapters go on and they decipher the intel that they were able to recover.

There are a few episodes of this out right now but I’m pacing myself as each episode should probably only take anywhere from half an hour to a full hour to read through. If you don’t mind quick reads and love both spies and zombies – I’d strongly suggest picking up the first episode and I doubt it’ll be long before you are picking up the rest!
