Ok, so lots of action heroes have measured their muscle against the undead and now it’s Dolph Lundgren’s turn in “Battle of the Damned”. The new zombie movie premiered at Detroit’s Zombie Con on Aug. 17th and is gearing up for worldwide release. Stills from the movie show pretty much what you would expect, Dolph with that quintessential Dolph-look and zombies, well looking like zombies. The movie’s official premise tells us that:

“In the near future on the outskirts of civilization a remote test facility lays in ruin following a catastrophic security breach. All that remains is a handful of survivors, their small armory of weapons and a fleet of the infected. The breach led to a viral outbreak that left thousands dead or mutated. Now the infected walk the land, stalking the few that still live. Led by private military operative Max Gatling (Lundgren), they fight the infected and soon learn there are band of malfunctioning prototype robots also on the march and they are armed and incredibly dangerous.”

Now Lundgren fighting zombies from a military compound might sound a little predictable, but I have to say that there probably isn’t a more qualified candidate. Yeah Dolph is big and clearly “must break you” but did you know he’s also walking around with a master’s degree in freaking chemical engineering? I’d say say the zombies days are numbered…the robots on the other hand may present a bigger problem.

So there you have it, a new twist of zombies with malfunctioning robots (a la Dunwoody’s Harvest Cycle perhaps) and Dolph Lundgren with the wonderfully ridiculous last name “Gatling”…yeah I’ll probably be handing over a few dollars for this or at least a spot in my Netflix cue.
