You might remember Byron Rempel from such websites as this one as he used to do a lot of our custom post art. Lately though he is on to bigger and better things. It all began with a vision (coincidentally it was right about the top he had a concussion from falling down two flights of stairs.) In this vision he was told that it was his life’s goal to create 1,000 zombies. Thus the project was born! Well actually it went a little more along the lines of the following:
Now he wants to get the project finished. He has temporarily stopped taking commissions and projects to plans to focus the next 4 months on his 1000 zombie portraits project.
Byron says the 1000 zombie portrait projects is a publicly funded and directed art project, and what he means by that is that anyone can fund a zombie, and choose who, or what, that zombie is.
Funding a zombie is as low as $25 for one or $40 for two, and what that gets you is a high resolution digital scan of the zombie you have funded, as well a zombie e-coloring book and an eventual ebook that contains your zombies along with a back story about how they became a zombie.
Byron plans on making 20 ebooks, each with 50 zombies and stories that go along with them, as well as a poster that will display all 1000 zombies together.
