Are You Ready For ‘Because Zombies’?

The world of Indie game development is fiercely competitive; constantly changing, and the stakes are high. This is why former Olympian Ben Hindle feels right at home. Hindle, A former member of the Canadian Olympic Bobsleigh team, has formed his own indie game studio, DoubleSmoked Software. The company will focus on games that combine simple addictive gameplay with immersive stories and deep worlds.

“There are many parallels between Indie development and training for high level sports” Hindle says. “Obviously the physical tasks are very different, but for me, the mental approach is almost identical”. “The development process is a long hard road” He continued,  “Each day the game gets closer to release, it reminds me of getting closer and closer to a championship race day; the day where all of the hard work will be put to the test”.

“Indie development is all about pushing the limits, and keeping up with a very fast moving and creative group of developers. To me, that’s not too different than trying to compete with the Germans, Swiss and Italians in elite Bobsleigh competition”

“However, I don’t wear a skin tight suit when developing my games.”

About Because Zombies

Because Zombies is the first game that DoubleSmoked will be releasing. It follows the journey of John – a father desperately trying to reunite with his daughter after their city has suddenly become the epicentre of the Zombie Apocalypse.

Players must guide John through zombie-infested streets, alleys and highways in order to get to the mysterious sky-scraper where his daughter is held.

John will be able to defend himself from the zombies by using many unique weapons found through exploring the city. He can combine them to maximize their zombie killing power. His journey will be perilous, but he will not have to do it alone as trapped in the city are other survivors that he can team up with, each with their own weapons and abilities.
