Now hold on just a second. Before you get your panties in a bunch I am the first person that the ’28 Days Later’ series is not a zombie series. However, as I’ve said in the past we’ll cover scenarios that are close enough to zombies to count. ’28 Days Later’ is just such a scenario. Not only that but it’s sequel ’28 Weeks Later’ left things pretty open for a third movie to round out a trilogy. With the first film having been released in 2002 and the second in 2007 we’re already a few years overdue for a third one.
However, I think we’d all be happy to go see it.
We’d really be happy to see it if writer Alex Garland was involved and the following quote sounds like our prayers might be answered! He’s been talking to director Danny Boyle and…
We’ve just started talking about it seriously. We’ve got an idea.
Danny and [producer] Andrew [MacDonald] and I have been having quite serious conversations about it so it is a possibility. It’s complicated.
There’s a whole bunch of reasons why it’s complicated, which are boring so I won’t go into, but there’s a possibility.
It’s more likely to be 28 Months than 28 Years. 28 Years gives you one more place to go. 28 Decades is probably taking the p**s.
So if that holds true the next film will probably be the last in the series but I feel a good end cap would be well deserved.
Also just a note on the image at the top here. Totally fan art I found from Google’s Image Search and not concept art so don’t get your hopes up that pre-production is that far along.
