… Or, at least, the part of it that’s worth their while.
Today we’ve got some exciting news for you and your readers! Recently arrived from the post-apocalyptic world of “Hipsters vs. Zombies†game, we want to introduce you the first playable characters, as well as the final hipster weaponry designs, the first enemies, scenery, and much more!
Humour, satire and irony, the main components of the story
“Hipsters vs. Zombies” players will take the role of hipsters on their quest to free humankind from the terrible zombie plague. Or rather, on their quest to become the last torchbearers of snobbery against the evil masses.
Through the genre’s tried and true mechanics and a constant, exhilarating massacre of zombie hordes, players will conquer new levels and worlds, while improving their very own hipster weaponry.
Plot
An(other) unexpected zombie outbreak has brought the city to its knees. Society has collapsed to a nightmare state, and only the fittest or the luckiest have a chance of surviving this ordeal. Our protagonists fall on the latter camp.
This group of fashionistas, together by trend rather than friendship, survived the apocalypse thanks to watching a four-hour unknown Austrian film with no subtitles at an art-house cinema. Even zombies have standards! Luck will have them join a group of hardened survivors, who will see their resilience put to the test thanks to our main characters’ utter dumbness.
These hipsters’ mission is to safeguard (or rather, hoard) everything that’s worth saving from our civilization: vinyl records, flannel shirts, or just about any kind of junk that’s not too mainstream. What for, you ask? Well, since they’re probably the last of the hipsters, they might as well be the best EVER.
The main idea in this epic battle is quite simple:
Survive, sure, but do it in style!
Each and every Zombie Apocalypse survivor hipster will be provided with the trendiest and most bizarre arms supplies; personal and nontransferable weaponry which will allow them to kill zombies and remain classy as hell! Which ones? Well, no other than their favorite hip stuff, but specially modified for the battle against the walking dead.
The fate of mankind is in the hands of a trendy squad
Each character will represent specific clichés of the hipster subculture as its best, and on the edge of absurd, too. All of them will be provided with three unique long distance weapons, as well as another one in melee attack. As if this were not enough, they will have available a generic projectile, the Warbucks Coffee.
They will have a very strong personality, and this will determine how they act.
Sugar, the “Hipsters vs. Zombies†Riot Grrrl!
She’s a tough, independent girl, a regular at music festivals such as Coachella or Glastonbury.
She wears a couple of dreads from her hippie phase, loves wearing lensless horn-rimmed glasses, and -duh- reading the Classics (even if she doesn’t understand a word).
Despite being a cute, indie girl, Sugar’s really concerned about her appearance. That’s why she spends more than 3 hours dressing herself up to get that “I don’t care†well-studied urban outfit.
You’ll take her in from her long, pink and blue ombré, her shorts and Dr. Martens boots. All these always topped with her Wayfarer sunglasses and the proper accessories to rock the perfect look, for partying, killin’ zombies, or whatevs!
But hey, pals! Don’t let her looks deceive you, and don’t get on her bad side, either: When she gets a weapon, she’s a killing machine.
Ulysses, the most intense, laconic, and overacted lead character from “Hipsters vs. Zombiesâ€
He’s a conceited poet who boasts about being smarter than everyone else.
He enjoys combining the latest high-tech gadgets with antique and vintage items. Ulysses is that kind of intense, laconic and overacted person.
You can tell him out by his thick beard, fedora, and plaid shirt. A DJ record bag, a briar pipe, and the typewriter he always carries, because it’s not a secret that:
“The pen is mightier than the sword. The typewriter is also heavier.â€
“Hipsters vs Zombies”, heroes will have to go over different sceneries, which will be subdivided in several levels. Among them, The Mall, whose artwork has been shown above. You can see the final design just below:

Characters will use their favourite hip stuff modified as weapons to fight against zombies
Our post-apocalyptical fashionistas will use the oddest hipster weaponry to survive: anything but mainstream products customized for the occasion. Items as different as vinyls, a cricket bat, a tattoo gun, or even a typewriter.
These objects will be specific to each character, and directly related to their own personality, excepting the projectile, the only weapon they share in common.
Weapons with Normal rate of fire have unlimited ammunition, though they will only cause minor damage to the enemy. Those weapons equipped with the Rapid rate of fire (which cause larger damage than Normal rate of fire arms), and the Slow rate of fire weapons (which are much more harmful than the Normal rate of fire) will have limited ammunition, as well as the projectile.
Besides melee attack and some damaging projectile objects, each character will be provided with three weapons (and three different rates of fire each one: Normal, Rapid, and Strong/Slow-fire).
So, without any further ado, here are the weapons present in the weaponry used by these peculiar characters:
Sugar’s arm supplies:
Ulysses’ arm supplies:
? The Dixon for normal-fire
? 180 for normal-fire
? Chicago Tattoowriter for rapid-fire
? SMG (SubMachineGun) for rapid-fire
? E.R. Special for heavy (but slower) fire
? Full HD (Full Heavy Discthrower) for heavy (but slower) fire
? KuteKut for melee attack
? WTF (Weaponised Typing Furnishing) for melee attack
Sugar’s weapons
Codename: “The Dixon”
Light crossbows are rather mainstream nowadays, but combine them with a tattoo gun, and things start getting colorful! Now, this is a real zombie-destroying tool if I ever saw one!
Codename: “Chicago Tattoowriter”
Gramps had an old Chicago Typewriter, and he didn’t use it for poetry. It’s now modified to put holes in the undead.
Codename: “E.R. Special (Ellen Ripley Special)”
Sugar’s always been a huge fan of “Alien”. Ellen Ripley’s gun inspired her to build this super tattoo gun that shoots deadly loads of ink at rotters. Assured destruction!
Codename: “KuteKut”
Having a cricket- loving dad and a butcher mom, and in the hands of a cat lover, this lethal weapon doesn’t look that bad. Easy, huh?
“There’s only three cassettes I would never listen to, and they’re in the chamber of my SMG”
Ulysses’ weapons
Codename: “180”
180 grams of hipster beat, quickly thrown from a vintage vinyl case are enough to massacre any zombie horde.
Codename: “SMG (Sub Musicassette Gun)”
Two walkmen modified as Uzis that can shoot dozens of old-fashioned cassettes a minute.
Codename: “Full HD (Full Heavy Discthrower)”
Ulysses hacked a jukebox and a flamethrower to shoot fiery vinyl.
Codename: “WTF (Weaponised Typing Furnishing)”
And, as a projectile…
Nothing more effective than a hot Warbucks coffee!
“Never mind its caffeine content being that of apple pie: what really matters is this baby’s hot enough to melt the face off any zombie that comes too close for comfort.â€
Zombies will use against the player whatever is considered mainstream nowadays
As you may have already noticed, it’s zombies you have to face in “Hipsters vs Zombies”.
Unlike hipsters, zombies will have no specific weapon, even if they can use whatever is regarded as mainstream at the moment against the “cool†fashionistas. They will throw objects, their own limbs, or anything useful to knock out the players and wipe out the human race.
