Press Release: NEW YORK & HELSINKI – JULY 10, 2019 9am EST – To celebrate the one-year anniversary of their one-of-a-kind location-based augmented reality mobile game The Walking Dead: Our World, Next Games and AMC are continuing their efforts in providing immersive fan experiences by giving fans a unique opportunity to become a special playable character in the game through the Become a Hero campaign.

The campaign opens up auditions to all players and fans to become the next Walking Dead hero and fight walkers alongside Rick, Daryl, Michonne, and other fan-favorite characters. Fans can find more information through the game and enter by filming their best The Walking Dead hero pose or at www.thewalkingdeadourworld.com.

“The real heroes of The Walking Dead franchise have always been the fans and we’re excited to give these dedicated superfans the spotlight they deserve by adding them to the game. This also allows us to further bridge The Walking Dead universe with the real world gameplay in a truly unique way,” said CEO Teemu Huuhtanen from Next Games.

In addition to becoming a hero in the game, the winners will get a chance to meet The Walking Dead TV show cast at New York Comic Con in October. Winners will be selected by a panel of judges in August and their characters will be added to the game during Season 10 of The Walking Dead.

Fans can enter the contest during July through The Walking Dead: Our World mobile game, as well as by visiting AMC’s DeadQuarters experience at San Diego Comic-Con on July 18-21.
